Vieux Donjon, Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2001

Deep, evolved red. Rust rim.

Vinturi - wild, killer, old school nose - resinous herbs, wood smoke, cherry liqueur, ripest tomato, menthol, Asian spices, grilled meat.

Round, expansive and edgeless in the mouth. Loaded but not heavy at all. Most of the aromatic notes repeat in the mouth. Nice acid/tannin synergy slowly firms things up. Light chew on the front teeth. God this is FK. Long wood smoke/herb finish.

$50. Never the flashiest CdP in its youth, but great with cellar time. This thing should drink well for a very long time.
