Hirtzberger, Riesling, Hochrain, Smaragd 2004 (Austria)

Light yellow.

Nose of wax, jellied white fruit, grapefruit marmalade. Hints of pepper and spice.

Intense - with high-pitched grapefruit zest flavor and a deep, low-toned earth (lentil?) character. RS adds volume and length with no overt sense of sweetness. Really chewy/bracing from the mid-palate through the finish. There's some residual CO2 here that also adds backbone.
