Domaine de Couron, Marselan, Coteaux de l'Ardeche 2007

Purple.

Vinturi - deep, fresh black fruit, earth and oak nut/spice nose.

Round and plush, with some textural sweetness. Tanzer's "urgent" fruit character - reminds me of Priorat to some extent - with strong acidity and moderate tannin. Ultimately, though, this is closer to a really good Cotes-du-Rhone. Gutsy.

$15. Marselan is a French cross (Cabernet Sauvignon X Grenache Noir). This is the first varietal bottling I've seen.
