Marcassin "Tony Zio Ranch" Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast 2003

Light yellow.

Smoke/sulfide/truffle, Meyer lemon flesh and zest, caramel and even a hint of pepper on the nose.

Extremely deep and packed in the mouth, like very few white, or red, wines I've tasted. Sulfides contribute smoke and truffle flavors and also a structural "edge" that cuts through the richness along with fine, strong, acidity. Really remarkable richness/tension. Just want to keep drinking the stuff. Finishes long and subtle, with mineral/sulfide edge and lemon/caramel flavors stuck in the mouth.

$75. Tasted just slightly chilled.
