Marcassin, Marcassin Vineyard, Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2001

Dullish red.

Nut, sea breeze, spicy red cherry and earth nose.

Round and mouth-filling, with a fairly hard edge of acidity/sulfides. Doesn't really come alive, showing little fruit or complexity. Dis-jointed finish too, which shows some heat. We'll see...

Day 4 - Fresh herb (oregano?), clean earth and deep cherry nose. Better integration and flavor follow-through, acidity still stiff in the finish. Who knows, maybe this just needs several more years in the bottle?
