Mas des Dames "La Dame" Coteaux du Languedoc 2006

Red/purple.

Slightly wild Languedoc nose - musky herbs, savory nut action with raspberry underneath.

Round and grenache-y, with nice red fruit character (very fresh) and lively acidity. Licorice also. More tightly knit than the '05, but good action. Absolutely no fat here, juicy and lean with lots of flavor follow-through. I'm sure this will be better with 2-4 years of cellaring.

Day 2 - Epiphany - haven't had a kiwi in years, but that's one of the aromatic components here. Great nose, all over the place.

Day 8 - No kidding. Deep meat and fresh herb (thyme?) nose is saucy and vibrant. Just stupidly good. Deep, round and still vibrant (how?). Finishes with firm acid/mineral/tannic chew. Totally FK. If you want something interesting and ever-changing in the glass, reds from quality producers in the Languedoc may be the best bets on the planet.

$17, 50% Grenache, 30% Carignan, 20% Syrah
