Dull, evolved red.
Wild nose - iron, oak char, grilled/wilted herbs, pepper, hazelnut, cinnamon ... Keeps adding stuff with air. Reminiscent of the Alesia Pinot some time ago.
Round and plush, with an acid/wilted green/saline edge keeping everything in place. Densely packed, with red cherry jam flavor making a welcome appearance. Iron and herbs too. Tannin gives a "chewiness" to the finish. Increasingly so. Interesting and subtle, despite (or because of?) the Brett influence.
$40. From Vincent Girardin, imported by Eric Solomon. Grand Cru Burgundy.
