Cune Imperial Gran Reserva Rioja 1996

Light red.

Amaretto, coconut, pepper/earth/spice nose.

Very light in the mouth, with acidity providing considerable structure still. Subtle flavors largely follow nose, but acid constriction seems excessive. Maybe it just needs some good Spanish ham.


Day 2 - Better breadth in the mouth, with acid impact abating quite a bit. Still, this is far from being a convincing example of traditional Rioja. No fruit.
